Purpose: to respond to your inquiry. Your data is used for no other purpose and is never transmitted to third parties for commercial purposes.

Legal basis: legitimate interest (responding to a voluntarily submitted request).

Retention period: messages are retained for up to one year after the last exchange, then deleted.

Newsletter

When you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • The date of your subscription
  • The date of your confirmation (double opt-in)

Purpose: to send you the communications you have subscribed to: rare dispatches, announcements of upcoming publications, notes on the writing process.

Legal basis: explicit consent, confirmed via double opt-in (mandatory confirmation email).

Retention period: until you unsubscribe. Each email contains a one-click unsubscribe link. After unsubscription, your data is deleted within 30 days.

Service Providers

We rely on trusted partners to operate the site and the newsletter:

  • Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — website hosting and technical infrastructure. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework which governs EU to US data transfers.
  • Buttondown (Emptyset LLC) (United States) — newsletter management (email address collection, message delivery, unsubscription handling). Data is processed on Buttondown's servers, located in the United States. Buttondown complies with GDPR-equivalent protection commitments through standard contractual clauses.

No data is sold, rented, or transferred to third parties for commercial or advertising purposes.

Cookies and Trackers

This site uses no tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies. No tool such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar is present.

The only cookies that may be set are strictly necessary for the technical functioning of the site (session, language preference). They do not require prior consent under applicable ePrivacy regulations.

International Data Transfers

Cloudflare and Buttondown are based in the United States. These data transfers are governed by:

  • The EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for Cloudflare
  • Standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission for Buttondown

These mechanisms ensure a level of protection equivalent to that required by the GDPR.
